Chiropractic Care

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these problems on general health. By performing highly skilled manipulations or chiropractic adjustments, doctors of chiropractic (DCs) can ease pain and dysfunction caused by a variety of health issues.

Thomas Lemire, DC, DABCA, sees patients at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Wellness Campus in Mentor. Dr. Lemire is experienced in treating a wide variety of conditions with chiropractic care, including:

  • Low back pain
  • Sciatica
  • Neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Disc herniations
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Shoulder pain
  • Hip pain
  • Posture correction.

Choosing a chiropractor

Doctors of chiropractic treat patients of all ages with a variety of health conditions. They specialize in treating patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, involving the muscles, ligaments and joints. These painful conditions often involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause pain in areas other than the initial injury or issue.

A combination of your health history, a physical exam, and diagnostic studies help your chirporactor reach a diagnosis, which will help him or her to determine whether chiropractic services are appropriate for your condition. Imaging or lab tests (such as MRI, CT scan or X-ray) may be used to confirm a diagnosis. If your doctor determines you would be more appropriately managed or co-managed by another health care professional, he or she will make the proper referral.

You and your doctor will work together to decide if chiropractic services are right for you. As part of this process, the doctor will explain your condition, recommend a treatment plan and review the risks and benefits of all procedures with you.
