Free in-patient therapies
Lake Health offers integrative medicine (IM) services for patients hospitalized at TriPoint and West medical centers. Lake Health provides many IM therapies to inpatients free of charge. Patients can arrange the therapies through their nurses. Service hours are limited, and not all services are available every day or on all units. Services are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. To learn more, call our Best of Health Line at 800-454-9800.
Recover in a healing environment
Aesthetics and other environmental factors can have an enormous effect on recovery and wellness. Lake Health has created environmental changes that provide a more soothing and healing environment for patients. Healing gardens, mediation areas, relaxing music and quiet spaces for families and visitors are found throughout our hospitals.
We’ve introduced softer lighting and calming colors in patient rooms, along with soothing fabrics, artwork and wall prints. A touch plate reading “Pause, Reflect, Heal” hangs outside each patient room, reminding caregivers to leave frustrations and negativity at the door and focus on the patient’s health.
Studies have shown petting an animal can lift your spirits and help lower blood pressure. Lake Health offers visits by dogs specially trained in pet therapy. The visits are designed to offer an enjoyable distraction for patients. All dogs have undergone strict obedience training, have earned the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Certificate and are certified by Therapy Dogs International.
Feel the healing beat
According to the American Music Therapy Association, Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
Music as a healing therapy can be traced as far back as the writings of Aristotle and Plato. At Lake Health, a music therapist will guide you through interactive sessions using both live and recorded music to promote well-being of mind, body and spirit. Music therapy sessions can:
- Ease pain in combination with anesthesia or pain medication
- Promote movement for physical rehabilitation
- Calm anxiety and stress
- Reduce muscle tension
- Provide emotional or spiritual support.
