My First 5K
Want to run or walk your first 5K? We can help! Your first race can be intimidating, especially without a plan. This annual nine-week program will provide you with the tools you need to successfully finish your first 5K race (3.1 miles).
Weekly support to help you succeed
The program begins with an information session followed by a meeting one evening a week, where you will learn about proper running techniques, nutrition, cross training, running wear and much more.This annual program is offered each Spring. Each meeting will consist of a 30-minute lecture followed by a 30-minute run/walk. Our group support combined with your own physical training will have you ready for a 5K in no time!

Be Fit For Life Wellness Program

As a Be Fit For Life member, you will receive access to our quarterly newsletter which covers a variety of wellness topics, 10,000 steps program opportunities to accumulate steps, quarterly step log tracker and a sneak peek of upcoming activity series.
Be Fit For Life Wellness Challenge
The Be Fit For Life Wellness Challenge is a 4 month (January-April) initiative among local businesses or groups of 10-20 adults to increase their level of physical activity and overall fitness levels during the winter months. Each month includes a main fitness event and other activities to gain points based on the team’s participation level. The main goal of each team is to obtain the maximum amount of participation from the entire team. Team captain meetings are held every September/October. For more information, contact 440-701-7535.
Walk your way to better health
It is a proven fact that walking is one of the best types of exercise to improve your health. The national recommendation is that you walk 10,000 steps or the equivalent daily. The fee for this program includes a pedometer, a calendar with programs and walking opportunities, a list of step equivalents and a steps log. After you join, you will receive the Healthy Steps newsletter and a new step log every three months. For more information or to register, call 440-953-6000.
Blood Pressure Checks
Lake Health offers the community a chance to have blood pressures checked for free, with no appointment necessary, on a monthly basis. For more information, contact 440-953-6000.
Great Lakes Mall Walking
Walking is one of the best ways to improve your health. Our sponsorship of the Great Lakes Mall walking program includes monthly blood pressure screenings and quarterly screenings for cholesterol, blood sugar, balance and more.
