Madison Emergency Department (Temporarily Closed)
Maintaining access to safe, high-quality care for all of our patients is a top priority of UH Lake Health. COVID-19 has created unprecedented challenges for health systems across Northeast Ohio. UH Lake Health has temporarily suspended operations at its freestanding emergency department at UH Madison Health Center effective at 3 pm, December 31. We will continue to assess our staffing needs across the system and use that as a guide for the return of emergency department services at the UH Madison Health Center. Nearby emergency departments remain open at UH Geneva Medical Center and UH TriPoint Medical Center. Learn more about this temporary closure.
The Madison Emergency Department, located inside University Hospitals Madison Health Center*, is designed to make our patients and their families our top priority. This ER is capable of managing all medical emergencies, including heart attacks, strokes and trauma for patients of all ages.
Wait times at ERs across the area are longer than usual right now. If you are planning a visit to the emergency department because of COVID-19, learn more about getting care. If you’re sick or injured, the best place to go for care depends on your symptoms and how soon you need treatment. Many non-life-threatening conditions can be treated at an urgent care, doctor’s office or virtually. Always call 911 for an ambulance in an emergency. First responders can start treatment in your home or on the way to the emergency department.
