Breast Health Services Close to Home
Lake Health Breast Health Coordinators
Lake Health’s compassionate breast health coordinators help patients understand the difficult decisions related to breast treatment and help them navigate their care. They offer assistance and emotional support to patients undergoing biopsies, newly diagnosed patients, and patients currently undergoing cancer treatments, such as surgery, reconstruction, chemotherapy and radiation. Teaming up with the patient’s primary care physician, gynecologist, radiologist, surgeon, oncologist, radiation oncologist and plastic and reconstructive surgeon, breast health coordinators become a patient’s advocate and act as a liaison between the patient and physicians. They provide patients with a personal contact for support, information and guidance.
Mammograms
Your best defense against breast cancer is early detection. Schedule mammograms in accordance with the guidelines for your age and doctor’s recommendations, and have your physician or nurse practitioner perform a clinical breast exam once a year. Annual mammograms are recommended starting at age 40 and continuing as long as a woman is healthy.
Lake Health offers digital mammography services at several convenient sites, accredited by the American College of Radiology and with certificates of operation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Lake Health has a Breast Center of Excellence accredited by both the NAPBC, National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, and by the ACR, American College of Radiology. Digital mammography has been found to be diagnostically superior for pre- and peri-menopausal women. It also allows us to perform a mammogram faster without sacrificing image quality. Some sites are open evenings and Saturdays. Pick the location that’s best for you:

- UH Madison Health Center
- UH Mentor Health Center
- UH Perrico Health Center
3D Tomosynthesis Mammography is offered at TriPoint, Lake West, Mentor Health Center and Perrico Health Center. This is the best mammogram available. It is a revolutionary screening and diagnostic breast imaging tool to improve the early detection of breast cancer in patients with dense and non-dense breast tissue. 3D tomography can decrease the need for follow-up exams and decrease patient anxiety.  Call your insurance company to see if 3D tomosynthesis is covered.
